the Trail Rack from Garvin Industries:
A tailgate rack capable of holding all of your outdoor/camping gear, and
more.
Unlike other racks that may use weak sheetmetal screws or require expensive bumpers as a
mounting system, Garvin's rack
uses an all-steel 3/4" square tubing tailgate reinforcement kit, allowing it to hold up
to 200lbs. Vertical stabilizer bars which run from the rear of the rack to custom brackets
mounted between the body and frame add even more strength
to this well thought-out storage
system.
The entire rack is welded from 3/4" square steel tubing, adjustable to reduce noise,
easily removable, and allows for quick access to your tailgate storage area. Options include:
mounting brackets for an axe, shovel, or both; Hi-Lift jack; and auxillary lighting. More
options soon to come are Jerry-can mounts and a bolt-on expanded-metal floor.
Our test results:
| For our test, we loaded the
rack with a 48-quart ice chest (loaded with ice and drinks), a full 5-gallon GI-style water
can, our all-cast Hi-Lift jack, full-size axe and shovel, lights, firewood, tent, sleeping
bag, and folding chairs. We then went off-roading as usual - as if the rack was not even there.
Other than a few rattles* over extreme terrain, Garvin's
rack took all we threw at it, and was barely noticable during the entire 140-mile trip. We
would definitely recommend Garvin's
Trail Rack to anyone who needs more space in their Wrangler. |

*Since the testing of our Trail Rack,
Garvin has modified his system to be
even quieter. The rattles we experienced may not be noticable at all now.
